Literaritees started as a project between two friends sometime around 1998. The protagonists were students of poetry at the University of Arizona, where they immersed themselves in songs of Walt Whitman’s beard. Many late nights were spent brainstorming ideas that would eventually fill the cache of ideas you see unravelling before you. The ideas were collected and forged in a crucible for 14 years in order to test their comic durability. At long last, the results are springing forth, in all their stark glory, threatened with extinction by the evolving media of our time and rescued by the ignorance of our protagonists towards the digital age. Through a long and laborious process in which the errors taught the masters, they learned the techniques of printmaking--wherein the error is the art and the art is the error.
